So you are against the already existing mandatory vaccinations for children attending public schools?

No, sir, I’m not.  It’s not as black & white as all ‘at.

Vaccinations such as those for Mumps or Measles?  How about Small Pox?  Would you feel differently if your child were to come down with any of the above?

Not my point at all.  I completely understand your vehemence here; you’re holding down the fort quite nicely, my respects assuredly.  …But my doubts are only for the grey areas that tend to be ruled by those without respect for the hoi-polloi at large.  Those who dig a good grand experiment in sociology and the like.  To say this faction does not exist is to be…wistfully incurious & buoyant in one’s own passivity.  A leadership who vaccinates its people for sake of longevity, of civic hope, is the leadership I stand beside with hand solute & the ability to field strip an M-16 while tossing back a Heineken in the warm afternoon sun, although it’s been a good long while since…but I think It’d come back to me.  But it isn’t like that across the board, & why not?  It could be, should be.  But no, it’s been documented by learned people that there have been many curious little forays into:  …hmmmm…wonder what’d happen if….we put this in ‘em………., for me to just simply go blindly into that good storm front.  So I get an itchy feeling, it’s an honest [survival & love for progeny] feeling…when nanochip technology has its marketeers.

& I know it does because I’ve been invested in the early throws of genomics and personalized medicine for quite a few years now…so I’ve done some reading.  Nanotechnology, in well-meant hands, could be a blessing to top all but creation itself.  Although, there are many not-so-well-conceived uses of nanotechnology in our midst, that are primarily revenues driven.  & I get that itchy feeling.  Actually I suppose all of it can be “called” useful and well-conceived…and we could all just…slip right into it ~ probably eventually we will…and then………….

If in the hands of the benevolent, the well-meant, then kudos.  Every technology brought to light on the notion of “do no harm” is a blessing I admire and respect, …but add in gluttonous-minded economics and…the gray areas widen.  In the 21st Century…we may have squelched that fundamental balancer that keeps the score just slightly hedged against those curmudgeoned necessary evils & in favor of the…well, … well-natured goodly thinking yada-yada sorts…for lack of a more definitive present day phraseology.  :o)

Mass vaccinations have been some of the most significant health care success stories of the past 50 years.  I say this as I lost my uncle (mother's oldest brother) to polio before I was born.  I'm told our youngest son looks like an exact replica, and it's a shame they can't meet.

My condolences and best hopes go out to you and your family, from the heart.  Family means everything; yours, theirs & mine.

And you tell me vaccinations are a bad thing?

No sir, I don’t.  I say wonderful genomic toys in the hands of the wrong big babies are a baaaad thing.  So here’s to those most benevolent intellectuals in high places who will cover-our-collective-asses with the highest of ethics in these ambiguous days ahead.

Cheers
