Good comments, all. I have never immersed myself in his work, but have always enjoyed it. The sound he gets out of the guitars is so distinctive, coupled with the speed at which he plays... oh, and being 8th row center (suck it, mick! if you fools had any clue what you were doing the US would still be yours and you could just chunnel over) just made it an incredible show. and i don't know who the bass player was but it was a young guy that apparently wasn't with him last go-round

The show did jump around a lot between genres, but I enjoyed the variety. He's even doing a honky-tonk song now, and it made me wanna go run over some armadillos. He did do covers of a Dylan, Free and SRV song.

It's pretty obvious how anal he can be about the sound and equipment. There were two songs that he played the piano for - and it was a Steinway baby grand! Not a bad bit of touring gear. His guitars were all immaculate, in stark contrast to the last guitarist I saw - Popa Chubby - who seems to take great pleasure from wearing gauntlets, bracelets and rings just to grind away on the guitar body. Eric also seems to have some issues with his sight - he seemed like he was real unsure of his footing while walking around, plus they set up a bunch of those Jesus candles as sort of runway lights to keep him from falling into the crowd.

And if he would do something about that elvish hair cut...
