It is far worse than Vietnam. And unlike Vietnam, when we leave,
there will be a bloodbath. There is a bloodbath now that we are
powerless to stop and 21,000 or 200,000 more troops will not
bring a halt to the death spiral. It is, and always has been, a fantasy
that we could install a "democracy" there.We will leave without "mission accomplished": this year, next year
or ten years from now. The question is how many more billions of
dollars we invest and how many more thousands of lives we lose to
forestall the inevitable.We really screwed the pooch this time, and we've destabilized the
Middle East to satisy the self-aggrandizing agenda of a few
greedheads and neo-cons. God damn them...
