Marc and Enrique,DAC's in my experience are kinda bonky...I have never bought one, but I rely on multitudes of them - and they don't seem that reliable, insofar as how much we're using them...I'll ask the guys at work what we're using...E,In my limited experience, I swapped out a friend's Dell laptop hard drive - and it was easy peasy lemon squeezy - he'd got the laptop from a friend who threw it around like it was a gameboy - of course the heads got out of alignment and stuff didn't work...it didn't make any noise, however...Have you used an MP3 'levelling' program? A program that levels the audio for your 'nefarious' MP3's?Marc/Pat -What was your first computer? At school, mine was a Pet and at home a Commodore 64 - along with the pokes and peeks - I learned how to program, and, because of it's soundchip - the mechanical aspects of sound - ADSR - Attack / Decay \ Sustain - Release_ It sure was handy when I showed up 15 years later in front of a Euphonix board and all the filters....good ol' timeshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35bTsLoH-6UI was really hoping to find an mp3/youtube example of drivemusic - a program that made the hard drive 'sing'...[to sorta wrap it all up with my commodore 64 or 128 memories & E's drive issues]...no dice.as a kid, changing that stuff (drivemusic) was a little beyond me. It had lotsa wow factor...as an adult - I like the workarounds..same spirit...
