Icon You need to actually read the bible, Pat...

I don't know who authored the stuff you posted, Pat but he was obviously attempting to decieve people with this garbage:

------------------------------------------------------------

Despite the immense evil of war, Jesus said it is inevitable that wars will continue until He returns (Mark 13:7-8), and He did not oppose earthly governments or their right to maintain armies (Matthew 8:5-10). Other New Testament passages accept the necessity of maintaining armies and the worthiness of military occupations (Luke 3:14, Acts 10:1-6)
------------------------------------------------------------

Sadly the passages he cites have nothing to do with what he's trying to say. When he cites Mark 13 7-8 this is from a conversation Jesus is having with Peter, James, John, and Andrew. He is telling them that there will be wars and rumors of wars...yes...but he's telling them for the most part not to worry and not to get involved. He's not putting a stamp of approval on war.

It gets worse to...he then goes on to cite Matthew 8 5-10 and claims that this is evidence that Jesus did not oppose governments and maintaining armies. I guess he figures no one will read these passages because that passage is about Jesus healing the sick and while he does heal a soldier and comforts him to try to stretch that to mean what your author is saying is nuts. That is pure deception.

He then gets totally unhinged with citing Luke 3 14 and wildly claims this (and Acts 10 1-6) shows the bible supports maintaining armies and military occupations...which is just off the wall. Read my friend:

And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse [any] falsely; and be content with your wages.

Now that is John speaking not Jesus but did you catch his message? Do violence to no man.

I don't know where you found that stuff, Pat, but it's rubbish meant to decieve Christians.
