Before I go any further did I read this exchange correctly?

Reg: Well, because Christians learned over the decades that Jesus for the most part had his head up his ass with this pacifism crap and got nailed to a cross for turning his cheek too many times. They also discovered that they would get fed to the lions, used as tiki torches at parties, and generally get run out of town if they stuck to what Jesus had to say. So, they developed a new and more practical world view, which involved killing your enemy before he had a chance to smack your cheek the first time.

Pat: Yep and maybe that is why you are not speaking German right about now.

So you are saying that is correct...Jesus was wrong in what he said and rather than go by what Jesus taught a "realistic Christian" is right to kill when he feels it's necessary...that's it? Are you saying that Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John should be removed from the bible going forward here?

The biggest speech Jesus made in the bible contains the Beatitudes...and while people over the course of time have argued about who he was speaking to, where he was when he said it, who these applied to, and what their true meaning was...that was his largest communication to mankind in one speech. Due to the fact that it was recorded it must have had some real significance at the time. Due to the fact it came after all the stuff in the old testament and it was the Son of God saying it I would think it sort of overrules anything contradictory that came before it...particularly to a Christian...are you really saying we throw that out the window, Pat?
