With respect to punk rock, I am exceedingly selective on what I like and listen to (as I think I am with rock music in general). The truth is, labels on music and most other things, are deceptive and simplistic and I plead guilty on this count. Have you tried "London Calling" by The Clash (Rolling Stone voted it the best album of the 80's). And there are some great compilations by The Jam, who were enormous in the UK,(compact Snap) and the Ramones (Ramonesmania). I think you might be surprised with respect to the intellligence of the lyrics and the musicianship (not to mention the passion). As to the Sex Pistols, I credit them for lighting the flame on the UK scene but their music has never really interested me. I may just have to put another compilation together for you like the last one. Does the mail get delivered in this weather? It was 5 below zero this morning here (and that's not even factoring in the bloody wind)!
