I swear, I could build a business fixing the problems you are experiencing.  The damn spyware/malware guys are making everybody's lives miserable.  As Pat says, there is no panacea to your problem.  Spybot and Adaware seem to get most of these things, but I've found that there are always some things that they don't and for those it sometimes means major surgery.  The worst ones to get are called rootkits and they are insidious because they can even hide from the operating system itself.  For more information and a (sometimes) cure for those, click the following link:

I'm an IT professional, so I deal with this sort of thing WAY more than I should have to and have found that no two machines ever have the same solution.  Often times, I will have to spend literally hours cleaning the registry manually.  And sometimes it's best just to wipe your hard drive clean and start over.  If you have a lot of applications installed though, you're going to feel pain.
