Vancouver's mayor, who was elected last Nov. is a remarkable fellow indeed.Among his many achievements have been the creation of a fully accessible 16ft. sailboat and club that supports disabled participants of all sorts,VAMS or Vancouver Adapted Music Society which lets disabled musicians access adapted instruments and use music therapy.
Personally, he's been like a support system for me during periods of prolonged hospitalisation, and subsequent recovery. It's very easy to succomb to depression and despair when all aspects of life revolve around being disabled, and not having the independance and strength to do what you know and love.
