That quote is quite popular here in the states right now. There are actually lots of parallels to be drawn between how Hitler's crew did things and how Bushco operates. 'Course, you get tarred, feathered, and dragged through the streets here for bringing it up. Bush is no Hitler though...same way Saddam was no Hitler...Hitler had charisma and was quite frightening...Bush has all the charisma of a wet fart and the most frightening aspect about him is that he got elected in the first place and that says more about the voters of this nation (or election fraud take your pick) than it does about him.
Anyway, Hitler went about his business convincing folks that if Germany didn't go to war it's people were in danger of not having the resources to survive as a country. They did not have enough land to farm to feed the people etc...and so war was a necessity for the survival of the German people and their way of life. Bushco has surely used the "common sense" argument that controlling oil resources is central to the survival of Americans and our way of life. Perhaps not in a straightforward manner in it's dialogue with the public but I'm sure (being convinced as I am that these Bushco drones don't sit around discussing "fighting evil" with their cronies...that's for the mass of yahoos in the center of this country that would vote for a doofus like Dubya) behind closed doors they discuss what this "war on terror" is all about in grown-up real world terms.
Also in the same way Hitler and friends built animosity toward Jews amongst their fellow countrymen (realize no matter when or where we are as human beings we love a scapegoat) so has Bushco and their legion built animosity toward Muslims using that faux common sense approach. I cringe any time I hear some baboon on the radio or tv state "Perhaps not all Muslims are terrorists but all terrorists are Muslims." Really? If we hold that statement up for inspection it stinks to high heaven. Hitler was more up front and honest though with his approach to being an evil bastard whereas the Bushco crew is more akin to P.T. Barnum. Come election day, as ol' P.T. knew, you put up the tents with all those vivid colors and lurid signs and people will buy a ticket...'course these same people think that pro wrestling is real and sex with a relative is what they mean by "safe sex" 'cause you don't have to risk catching anything from a stranger.
Anyway, who the fuck am I to say...I'm just some Commie from Massachusetts that wants to discuss Freud with Osama bin Laden.
