Well, obviously the scene where the man shoots and the child doesn't die is fantasy, and it didn't really fit with such a stark reality they presented. My opinion.
I think this is a difficult film to discuss because if one were to suggest that some of the racism in the film was understandable, then the commentator would in fact be racist as well. In other words, the struggle is to accept that we understand the racism because of our own racist elements within ourselves. Otherwise, the film would be a complete fantasy which it definitely is not.
