What is "independent" now days.  The Warren Commission was supposed to be independent, but look what that got us.  I'm frankly not sure whether any investigation is even worth the effort.  I heard someone on NPR yesterday saying she discussed with GWB the possible firing of the head of FEMA, and he said, "why would I want to do that?" - to which she answered "because of everything that went wrong." - to which GWB replied, "what went wrong?"  -- the point being that it doesn't matter what the truth is anymore; they have blinders on.
