I don't know if it would help or hinder the situation, Peter, but I can talk to my cousin Ryan, who is a Marine and will be getting out in about 3 months and see if he'd be willing to chat with him.
I'm not sure how it would go because despite all of the bad involved with the Corp (basically having to go to Iraq) I would say his involvement with them has changed him mainly in a positive way. He is completely against the war with Iraq and finds the Bush administration totally disgusting but I'm not sure how he'd come down on joining the Marines.
