The discs, to my ears, are both excellent--but yes, you need the right mood for either. I have found uses for both since I am in the habit of playing an album while I cook dinner, which typically takes 60-90 minutes (no microwaving, since it messes with the tinfoil hat I must wear at all times, to keep the robots in my pants confused.)
But anyway--Grohl is the real answer to the question "why did Nirvana succeed?" Cobain, as tortured as he obviously was, is the lesser star in this binary pair, IMO.
Watch out for the flying monkeys!
