Darren, I read the opening line of your post and thought Cheap Thrills??? One of my favorite hangouts as a young 'un growing up in Montreal, and sho' nuff.  I actually went back there a couple of years ago, and it was like walking in a time warp. NOTHING had changed, except they now sell CD's, not just vinyl.  Still great deals, and some rare used things.  They outlived all of the used record places in Montreal.  I don't know if you are old enough to remember Galaxy records...I think they were on Cote Des Neiges near the Guy Metro stop.  Oh yeah and Phantasmagoria (think they're still around on Parc Ave). 

And if you remember the New Penelope, well...
