Oddly, at about 1230 today I decided to clean out my garage. Earlier we had dropped off some stuff at the Salvation Army store and on the way we had the local PBS station on the radio. Today they have been playing blues for a charity drive. So when I got home, I turned the radio in the garage on to this same station and cleaned out the garage while sipping beer. Wow. What a good time I had. They played RL Burnside, Junior Kimbrough and many others. But it gets back to the same issue.....look at all those who receive attention and support - as always, it is the beautiful people. Talent is not the standard bearer - it is beauty. For example, look at Janis Ian. What a wonderful singer, but she is barely heard. Instead what we have is Shania Twain or other countless beauties. How about Koko Taylor. And I like Jeff Buckley, but he was handsome. What I'm getting at is that regardless of those who are seen regularly in music videos or the like, the most talented are the hardest to find and the most ignored unless they are Greek looking gods or Playboy models. And that is depressing.....
