those Americans who love to spout off self-righteously about America as a shining beacon of freedom and all that's great, seldom mention the atrocities our country has committed throughout its brief and violent history . . . so many Americans are ignorant of world history . . . it's very easy for our politicians to fool them into believing America is always right and anyone who thinks otherwise must "hate" America . . . I was just reading up on our past relations with Iran . . . I'm pretty sure most people don't realize American troops invaded Iran decades ago to help topple their government and later our government supported the brutal rule of the Shah, and even though some Iranians are anti-american and/or fearful of what we may do to them, most Iranians have no problem with America or Americans . . . (these opinions are based on several articles, one of which was in the Smithsonian magazine, and first hand acccounts from a report friend of mine who recently returned from a trip to Iran) . . . sorry went off on a tangent . . .
