I hear what you are saying Reg, but I feel like Gene - drafting could be a possibilty. Re the use of technology will considerably cut down on the loss of American soldies... wait a sec, it's not just America fighting, the English are there as well as our Aussies - and we've all lost men.

We've recently had our elections here as Kathryn mentioned in an earlier post, our opposition leaders desire was to bring our troops home - before Christmas. If the alliances break down, then America may just require more men. Possibilty.

The Bush administration wants to develop and use tactical nukes and other "technology" to fight our battles. It will considerably cut down on the loss of American soldiers but it will kill a lot more innocent people. Patton would frown on this approach and is probably rolling in his grave as I type this. I do believe Bush will keep his promise of no draft but I also believe he could become the first US president to unleash full nuclear attacks on other nations. He now has the power and no worries about his political future to do this.
