You guys could be correct. This victory for Bush could be partly a backlash against all of the hardcore bashing that went on. I do think at a certain point Americans will say "Enough!"

But I do see this as a huge loss for the Democrats because they seem to have lost every part of this...not just the presidency. They lost on all fronts. Yeah, Obama won and he's the only bright spot for the Dems but they do seem to have lost the people of this country to the Republicans. Let's face it, when you look at that red and blue map it certainly appears that the majority of the country is red and Bush won the popular vote by 3 million. More states are Republican so it's become quite obvious that it's becoming very easy for them to control the House and Senate. The Democrats are dying a slow death it seems. Really, they can't seem to pull themselves out of this.

Look at it this way, if they can't mobilize the people and their own troops to score a victory against a candidate as weak as Bush, then how would they beat someone like McCain or Romney who would actually pull in even more moderates and Democrats? The Republicans have the deck stacked now well in their favor and have a list of candidates to choose from when Bush is done. Obama won't be running for president in 2008. Name the Democrat that will have a chance? There isn't one...right now anyway.

The Republicans own this country and with Arnold running California he could very well turn California into a Republican state again and there goes those 55 electoral votes. The Democrats have no strategy to win, they don't have the media machine the Republicans have and I think they are in big, big trouble. They have lost the Supreme Court and Bush and the Republicans will now be able to push through every item on their agenda because they control all aspects of the government. That's a huge loss any way you cut it. Who will step forward now to lead the Democrats? They needed a Kerry win in a big bad way to keep any sort of balance because the numbers are against them in the House and Senate.

Let's face it Ronald Reagan's administration has defined this country for our lifetimes. Here we go, Bush has complete control of our country and basically the world with the House and Senate behind him. The people have what they wanted and Bush and his administration will have an easy time doing what they feel they need to do. Let's see how they handle it. This is the best possible scenario for a sitting president, can he turn things around? I'm hoping for the best.
