CURRENT FAVES OF LATE THESE DAYS
by Mr. Redundant
* Bobby Bare Jr. - Young Criminals' Starvation League
great alt-country songwriter, son of the country star. his first 'solo' record (with some interesting production), although the previous two with his old band, Bare Jr., were definitely more rockin' - the second one was called More Songs About Girls Who Don't Like Me, but the first one (Boo-tay) is the shit. i saw him the other night here in SF and they tore the cafe Du Nord UP. fantastic live show - and Kid Rock was in the house! it was wonderful to be able to tell Mr. Rock how much his music means to me.
* the new Coldplay - quite good.
* the new Gabriel. the usual densely produced stuff, it's starting to grow on me...
am getting back into:
* fishbone - Truth and Soul
just brilliant, nothing more.
* U2 - All That You Can't Leave Behind
yeah, this is their best one in years.
* Lou Reed - Ecstasy
a bitter one, to be sure, but Mike Rathke's guitar work - and that tone - are killer.
* Anne Murray - Best Of
(um, no.)
your move, Mr. Bond.
