Hello Folks,
Here's my Top Ten list of music I am currently jamming to at the moment. I made quite a few CD purchases over the last three weeks. I'm hoping that none of me favs will be releasing albums over the next month. My addiction gets out of hand on occasion, and I forget that I can't spend more than I earn, eh?
Well, here goes November's list:
In My Room - Kevin's Top Ten for November
1.) Grand Drive -"See The Morning In", Two Aussie bros. move to London, form a Alt. Country Act and they just released their third CD. Imagine if you will, their music sounds as if, The Jayhawks and Mercury Rev decided to record together. Lovely tunes, a wee bit more somber than their prior two. http://www.grand-drive.com
2.) Sigur Ros - "( )", Icelandic band return with their third album of slow core, progressive rock sounds. First three tracks are a bit boring, then Track Four rolls in and Mr Brigisson's guitar and unbelieveable voice carries you to unheard worlds of angelic sounds. I can't say enough about this band. they could, quite possibly become the band of the decade. http://www.sigur-ros.co.uk
3.) Paul Weller - "Illumination", Mr.Weller's best solo record since "Stanley Road". Nothing really new, except strong tunes. Being a long time fan, I buy everything he puts out. Rarely have I been let down. http://www.paulweller.com
4.) Josh Ritter - "Come And Find Me"CD single, I think I have promoted this guy's work enough on this board. Great remixes on this five track disc. http://www.joshritter.com
5.) David Gray - "A New Day At Midnight", O.K. there's no strong single like "Babylon" or "Please Forgive Me". Nor is there a beautiful ballad as strong as "This Year's Love". But I would venture that this new album is a stronger then "White Ladder". No.1 in the U.K. and Ireland, yes! I hate sales charts, but when are American music buyers going to Wake Up? http://www.davidgray.com
6.) The Wallflowers - "Red Letter Days", I was a huge fan of their last record, "Breach". This one's even stronger. I am so glad they have left the "Bringing Down The Horse" days, far behind. Adventerous tunes, sounds great when played right after U2's best of, vol. II. http://www.thewallflowers.com
7.) Josh Ritter - "Golden Age Of Radio" My record of the year, so far!
8.) U2 - "The Best Of 1990-2000" limited edition, Do I need to give you any info on this band? Well I wasn't a huge fan of their albums during this decade, but after hearing this two-disc collection, I was wrong. There is a very strong collection of tunes on this disc!
9.) Manu Chao - "Radio Bemba Sound System", Manic live collection from one of the greatest "world" acts out there right now. So why do I have to wait for the DVD version, damn it!!!
10.) Coldplay- "A Rush Of Blood To The Head", Far better album than their first. A most welcome release to my CD player this year. Though, doesn't it sound alot like Echo and The Bunnymen? hmmm?
I hope you all are continuing to venture into new sounds in your lives. God knows, I could never be stuck in one decade or genre!!! I allways need to open my ears and my heart to different types of music. So, What are you jamming to at the moment?
Best to you all!
Cheers!
Kevin from Arizona
