She couldn't get herself killed fast enough...As Dale points out, a nightmare punishment to someone like her might have been the idea of spending a lifetime bustin' up rocks. Death to her was an escape from that horror. She got her wish too, just 2 weeks ago. But I also agree with you, that for most of us, knowing exactly when we're going to die would be a very scary thing indeed.
Personally I'm on the fence with the death penalty issue. I can see some legitimate cases where the death penalty is excercised and some not. I think it depends entirely on each individual circumstance. But for me, it's a gray area. For example, I'd like to see this Mohammed character get the death penalty, assuming he's guilty, because he's way beyond rehabilitation (IMO) and I think it would go along way toward healing the feelings of the relatives of his victims to get some retribution and closure. I'd not like to see his stepson get that punishment however, because I believe that he could still be saved from his twisted ideas. Of course that's up to the experts to decide, but my point is that even though they are both allegedly guilty of the same thing, there can be circumstances that warrant different punishments for the same offense. So I suppose I'm saying that I'm not comfortable with outlawing the death penalty completely because sometimes it just seems necessary to me.
I also go along with the no TV or other perks (like book, music and movie deals) for violent offenders. Why should they have those comforts anyway?
