I must have missed that post. I recently watched Northfork and found it very intersting. A very unusual film ( which I tend to like ), Nick Nolte looks like this film must have been shot around "the mug shot" period. He and James Woods turned in excellent performances here. The Montana landscape almost upstages the ensemble cast as we experience the impending death of a community and a child as hope seems to pack up and leave and yet a glimmer stays behind.

It was indeed depressing but well acted. My only complaint, and it may just have been my own frame of mind at the time, would be the editing style which left me scratching my noggin trying to figure out whether the current scene was a look back or a look forward. As the story came together it got easier but early in the film it only served to confuse. I am a big fan of the movie "Momento" which may have inspired the "tossed salad" form of peeling the onion in this story but in my view it didn't work as well here. It's like they made the movie, cut the film up into pieces and tossed them in the air and then taped it all back together in random order.
