Right here, buddy. And no, I dont really hate Bedtime Stories. I
think the songs are pretty good. I do think it's
both over and datedly produced, and I can't
stand the singer, but I guess that's sort of easy
to hear through, and most records do date, after
all. And singers are always lame. But right now
I'm finishing up the first round of songs for a
really wonderful film by Steve Oedekerk, an
animated musical-ish sort of Joseph
Campbell-y heroes voyage Gary Larson sort of
thing. (With the voice of my favorite Spaghetti
Western star ever) On Monday I start fulltime 7
days a week on a film called "Around The Bend",
which stars Michael Caine and Christopher
Walken, a both very funny and very devastating
film about fatherhood, tragedy, violence, and
forgiveness and love. A beautiful film, with the
most touching Chris Walken performance since
the Deer Hunter. The music will be very open
and piano-based, and possibly will include
performances by some Kronos vets on cello
and viola. Also ostensibly in early June, I'm
going to do an acoustic guitar/vocal album with
Dean Parks: called "Pentimento One", it will be
just me and Dean playing acoustic guitar
versions of songs I still believe in and that I
over-produced the first time around. I swear I
havent retired, I'm just being a dilettante as
usual. Also just following "Pentimento One" I'm
doing a film with Hans Z., a Gore Verbinski film
starring Nicholas Cage called "The
Weatherman" So give me a break, man, I'm
working on it. It's not like I'm just sitting on my
thumbs. I'm also almost finished building the
second most most bleeding edge film
composition computer system that I've ever
seen, which is no picnic, lemme tell you. Plus
I've been studying music like a 20 year old. So
cut a fellow human some slack already.
Sheesh!DavidPS, plus, I've been doing my best to unseat the
most reckless, incompetent, self-serving
political Administration that I've seen in my adult
life.db
