1. Where are you getting your information on Rove?
From reading about him over the years. No one source in particular but the majority of my news comes from the papers. I read the Washington Post and New York Times stuff on line and I buy The Boston Globe and Boston Herald. Sometimes when I'm interested in something specific I search the web for information and I've read quite a few things about Rove off the web. There is, of course, a load of stuff out there about him...some of the stuff is so vicious, as Dale once pointed out, that it's really hard to take it as credible...when the Nazi stuff starts you know...but the general information about him when you read it is not good at all.
2. You are saying the Amnesty of Illegal Aliens was Rove’s idea?
Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. If you search the web I'm sure you can find info that talks about how he introduced the idea during the 2000 campaign. The GOP told him he was nuts though. I believe most people feel this way.
3. What is Roves benefit from this?
He believes it will cause minority voters to vote for Bush. Everyone believes this will be a tight election and in Rove's world sucking voters that they believe normally would vote Democrat over to the Republican side is huge. It's a complete political gamble...problem is just like in 2000 nobody...even the GOP...agrees with Rove. Plus since this was always Roves plan if Bush wins it makes Rove look like the genius he'd like you to think he is. Well, he didn't handle the National Guard nonsense too well and I think that issue would not have got so out of hand if Rove (the man known as Bush's brain) did a better job.
I’m trying to understand this because this was the biggest B.S. deal that Bush put out there and I did not agree with it.
Well, you're not alone. Rove was behind several ideas that he came up with for the 2000 campaign. Another big one was too make sure they played up Bush's Christian side to bring the religious conservatives back to the table. That's worked well for Rove so far. He is behind the idea to create the constitutional amendement as well. Rove met privately with people and assured them Bush would back the amendment to ban gay marriage. I believe the plan Bush threw out at the end of 2003 to "promote traditional marriage" was part of Rove's strategy to slam the Democrats on the gay marriage issue. So, Rove is behind all of this strange policy we saw thrown around at the end of 2003 to play into the campaign strategy for 2004. This kind of stuff, I think is way out of control.
