Nick Drake is quite possibly the greatest singer/songwriter of the 1970’s. Very sad that he left the world at such a young age. His impact on music world and the rest of us, happened many a year after his death. I would say that the late 1980’s is when you began to hear his name being passed around. Then in the mid-late 90’s his records began to sell, but nothing compared to when a certain VW ad used his song, "Pink Moon". I don’t think I would compare his music to any other. He was a truly unique artist and an under-rated guitarist as well. Don’t buy "Way to Blue, an introduction to…" It doesn’t flow very well. Buy all three of his studio recordings. One thing’s for sure! I never see any of his CD’s being sold as second-hand copies at the local used-record store.

Now Shane is an entirely different matter. Brilliant lyricist though, to bad the bottle has won out.

Cheers, Kevin (from AZ)
