Icon What do conservatives think he's thinking?

I thought the same thing until a few weeks ago. His spending is completely out of control and his plan to offer amnesty to 8,000,000 illegal aliens is outrageous! What is he thinking?

Really a lot of what he's up to seems to go against the grain of what conservatives would support. He's going to create a big government social program to counsel people about marriage...1.5 billion for that...it seems more like something you'd associate Democrats with and you know it's gonna be a giant disaster...they'll spend every penny of the money and then shut the program down. Anything like that is doomed to fail. The federal government is not supposed to be in the marriage counseling business.

The space stuff just seems to be an idea that's all about PR (making the most of the Mars probe...well timed I'll admit) but can't these clowns see that some people will see that as sort of insane?

The $145 million on an anti-marijuana ad campaign also seems pretty misguided and poorly timed. I guess that was set off because a Republican senator was offended by a legalize marijuana ad he saw somewhere that somehow also referenced sex.

Plus, I thought we may have a bit of an uproar from the conservatives on the board about this illegal alien deal...I can rationalize some good intentions involved with it but on the whole it seems to be a disaster waiting to happen. Almost every conservative I know is apoplectic about it and most are saying Bush just lost their vote. Strange moves indeed. A republican that's all about big spending and making government bigger...
