Yeah, come here and we are pretty well informed but out in the world, not so much. People think and believe some out there things. You kind of would think with so much info today at our fingertips that we'd be a better informed populace but instead we seem to just have more people that have filled their heads with bad info or just have not bothered to look at anything. 

I can't keep up with every executive order Trump signs so I don't know everything he is doing...and I try to be somewhat on the ball. It takes some work and some reading to keep up and then you take a person that just never paid any attention to history and...well...they have decades, centuries of stuff they don't know about. 

I'm not saying people have to be history scholars but have a grasp of the basics. I know we bring up Caligula here but honestly, I don't expect Joe Sixpack to know who Caligula is. If they know who Abe Lincoln is, I'm happy. 

It does not help that our current president and administration has a war on truth and facts. I mean, it did not seem to upset anybody that voted for him that they just came right out and said "Don't fact check us!" and they cut deals with social media sites to not point out blatantly false information...they want that false info out there and they want nothing to be said indicating it is false. 

They are eating cats and dogs, man! January 6 was a day of love!

Yesterday there was a bizarre press conference in the oval office with Elon Musk there and they asked him about how he lied about USAID buying 50 million dollars in condoms for the Taliban. He just smirked and said "Well, you can't get everything right." 

Their idea of free speech is, you have to allow us to lie and never fact check us. They want to work people up with the lies, and if they get caught they want to just be able to say "Oh well, can't get everything right."

I mean, I know it is on each of us to try to be informed but these people that we are talking about in this thread, how can you blame them for not knowing things or believing false stuff when the president of the United States and his unelected Nazi loving pal have made it a policy to lie and con people and they will come after you if you attempt to fact check them. If the public does not care about that, if they want to be lied to because they prefer how the lies make them feel...well...we are going to run into people like this.
