I read this article a while back, and enjoyed it (in a sort of laughing melancholy kind of way) very much. My personal favorite statement on the topic, however, was made by John Stewart on The Daily Show. It was on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and a video clip was shown of Charlton Heston saying something along the lines of, "Every American deserves the right to carry a gun. These 'safety' laws are absurd, and I think Dr. King would agree with me." John Stewart's response: "That's the same line of argument that the Federal Aviation Association used at their annual Buddy Holly Day picnic." I haven't laughed so hard in months (though again, one of those slightly depressed laughs).
