Icon My fellow human beings and the roar of the crowd

I've been kind of in a sea of OPP the last few weeks. OPP being other people's problems. I have this flaw, I mean, I am deeply flawed, but when someone comes to me with a problem I feel compelled...ah...driven to help solve it. It causes me to wade out into humanity, the deep end, and get swept away by the rip tide.

Julia tells me I can't solve everybody's problems. I know I can't. I guess I will say you should be careful solving people's problems because when you do, people remember you did that...and then when a new problem arises, they know who to go to. Another flaw I have...I love people.

Over the last few weeks, I've been trying to help people get through issues that are traumatic in the moment but hopefully can be solved. Well, except for alcoholism, that I have not found an answer for. Sometimes I wonder, can I solve this problem? It does cause me to become mentally stressed out, particularly in a period like the last few weeks, when somehow several people came unglued and all kind of came to me at once. I've not had a good time getting to sleep.

It made me pretty aware of how many people depend on me. I do feel good when I have solved a problem. It gives you a sense of accomplishment and sometimes you get a really big hug. When a young woman that refers to you as the only father she has ever had gives you a big hug...well...you feel like you did right by the whole big wide world.

When I got home the other night, I honestly did not feel like watching the debate. Not because I was worried about Kamala, I was not, I have great confidence in her. I just did not feel like spending any of my time with Donald Trump. However, I cooked dinner, chicken curry at Julia's request, and then went upstairs and turned on the TV. The debate was about to start. I thought, well, I will watch a little of it.

Somehow, I sat through the whole thing. I agree, she destroyed him. That was not really a surprise. It was nice to watch. It was nice to see someone speak the truth directly at him while he, cowardly, refused to even look at her.

Yes, there was a stark contrast between the two people on stage. One was decent, kind, thoughtful, intelligent, and had the demeanor of someone that could be our president. She spoke of ways to better our nation, bond through our differences, and to move toward a better future for all.

The other was a raging, lying, self-obsessed, out of control, often screaming, sweating, fat fucking orange marshmallow, that appeared to be having a total breakdown while babbling about people eating cats and dogs, executing newborn babies, World War 3, how Victor Orban is a great man, and once again spewing total garbage about the crowds at his rallies. All while claiming the United States is a garbage and dangerous country and that we would be safer if we lived in Venezuela. He could not have crammed more utter bullshit into what he said if he had another hour and a half to speak. He did manage to issue threats against both our allies and the United States on behalf of Putin during a debate where he supposedly was there because he is running for president...of the United States. He does not seem to like the United States, the majority of the people in it, nor anything the country stands for...but supposedly he wants to lead this nation.

He wrapped all this in a filthy shroud of cowardice where he would not look at nor say the name of the woman on stage next to him that happens to be our Vice President. It was, in all honesty, the most pathetic display I have ever seen from someone that is supposedly running to be our president.

Honestly, I did wonder, who in their right mind could consider this lunatic for president? What exactly appeals to people about this moron?

I could go over a lot of truly wacko moments from the debate but suffice to say, Donald was a fountain of chaos. He even threw his own running mate under the bus, which was pretty spectacular, because you know, he always picks the best people!

If a debate is a job interview, a chance for each of us to examine the candidates, look at them, listen to them, evaluate how we feel about them and if we want to hire them...well...I can only say, if you watched that display, and still want to hire Donald to be our president, you have some serious issues.

If you were sitting in a room with those two people and had to choose one to work with, to entrust important responsibilities to...and you picked him, good luck to you. You are a beacon of poor judgement.

And the crowd roars on!
