His mother and I and oldest friend, whose wife is very ill so he has a lot on his plate. His daughter wants him to get well, but she is 7, and she just knows daddy is sick, but not with what. 

The problem with AA is it is a 12 step program and you enter it after going through rehab. 12 step does not work for many and some really despise it. In this case he despises 12 step. So, my hope was to seek alternatives. Now, he done some medicinal treatments, claims they make him feel sick and out of it so, does not like those either. 

I've thought about hypnosis, which Mick brought up here, and the treatment center I have been trying to get him in promotes a lot of alternative methods. However, looking at their follow-up treatment, the outpatient after he makes it through the main program, seems to mainly refer to methods involving drugs. 

I am trying to think outside of the box, because of his disdain for 12 step and also for religion, which often times they guide you toward that, you have to give your life to god. He won't buy into that. 

Due to the severity and amount he consumes, I keep thinking a method involving drugs is the only way out. He resistant to that, claiming the drugs do not work for him but he's only tried maybe a couple of things in that regard, and some of the drugs he was not happy with were for sleep and PTSD issues.

I have a friend, also in recovery, he used marijuana and mushrooms to get him out of the alcoholism, and that worked for a good period of time. He fell off the wagon, but got back on. So, I tried myself, putting him on a program using these things but the son of bitch kept drinking on top of the other stuff. I kept explaining to him, the other things were to be used while not boozing but as soon as I would leave him, he'd pour a bottle of vodka down his throat. So, stopped doing that as well. 

I kept saying to him to use the weed or mushrooms when he wanted a drink, but he would use them, then start drinking, then forget what he had taken, then use more of everything.
