I don't know that I can add any more to the discussion about how to help your friend that others haven't already said. Mainly he is going to have to want to stop and change. The one thing I do want to add though is what kind of access does he have to his daughter? Does he drive with her in the car? Is he alone with her at home or anywhere else? I only ask because if he is, he is putting her life in danger. If so, Children and Family Services may need to become involved, BUT would knowing THAT fact make a difference to him. Maybe knowing that he might lose his daughter would motivate him to change but also someone really may need to step in to make sure his daughter is protected.
