Yes, it is about destroying our government. I wrote about my back and forth with a Trump supporter, I think back after he won in 2016, and how he laid that out to me. I mean, I knew, because I had heard it several times, that voting for Trump was the opportunity to throw the grenade into the halls of our government and institutions and to see them all go up in flames.
This guy, he was from New Hampshire, said to me "Trump is the only one that will do it. He is the only one that will go all the way and completely destroy our government so we will have to start all over."
This is built into the MAGA movement. Some of these people hate our government and our country so much they just want it to be completely destroyed. The starting over part...well...it is kind of unclear what they really want and MAGA people are not really united on that. Some, I think, want a Mad Max, type country, where they race around taking whatever they want from whomever they want with superior firepower and a fast all-terrain vehicle. Yes, it is that stupid. The Christian types, weird fundamentalists and/or evangelicals, they just don't think any of us that do not believe in their god should have any say or any rights whatsoever. We are truly scum to them because we would believe something like a woman and her doctor should be able to make a choice about her health and life. To them, yes, a Christian dictatorship, is the proper way to go because we can't be trusted to make our own choices. The funny part of that is, some of the MAGA crowd would just kill other parts of the MAGA crowd to get their way, and basically, if MAGA got its way, they would kill each other. It is not some unified team, it is groups of fairly radical people that all fall under the umbrella of the chaos Trump uses to incite them all.
Some are racists, some are bigots, some are Christian nationalists, some are just obsessed with their guns, some are so filled with hate seeing misery brought to anybody else is just pure joy for them. Trump managed to get them all stirred into one pot where they will co-exist long enough to make an attempt to destroy our country...but basically, and we have seen it with people like Marge Greene and Matt Gaetz, they will eventually be at each other's throats. These are not groups of people filled with kindness and brotherly love, these folks will live out their days always needing someone to hate, someone to call the enemy, someone to point the finger at, someone to destroy.
Right now, they can unify against Democrats, we are the scum, and immigrants, and scientists, and they can point their hate at us, and say we need to be destroyed but, if they ever did manage to get rid of us, and they can't, they would then begin to break down into their tribes and start going after each other.
That path leads to the blood bath ending for them as well. Some of them welcome that ending. Christians believe in a great apocalypse, expect it, want it to come. That's god at work to them.
So, Trump is just a means to an end. A trumpet sounding to let us know the end is coming. While a war rages in the holy land at the same time, a war they believe is promised to them.
But then, I look at this, all of it, to me, plays as stupidity and cruelty for the sake of cruelty. You can't make your own life better by making someone else's life shit. Common sense used to be a thing. Sure, I get that they are entertained by seeing someone else's life turned to shit, but honestly, that's not going to get them to a better place.
And on they march and they never seem to grasp that the people they are following, the Donald Trumps, hate them and want to destroy them as much as they want to destroy everything else. The one thing Trump knows, is he has to destroy everybody. He started by destroying the Republicans, he needed to do that to then attempt to destroy the Democrats, then our system of government will fall, he can declare he and his family the supreme rulers for life, and then he will destroy his followers, whom he always hated in the first place. Trump is a fool who can only see his followers as fools, and so as fools they serve no purpose to him except to deliver him to his throne. Once this occurs, they are then useless.
The religious types though, they are predisposed to follow a god, or a godlike figure, and so they will march right off the cliff because it is just part of who they are. To them this is all meant to be.
"Long game, Reg, long game." is how it has been put to me.
