Icon Margins and labels

So, I am thinking about this and a couple of things occur to me. First, is the one you and David mention, which is who to try to appeal to, meaning absolutely you want to go after people without an investment in either side but that may have an interest in voting. Trump also won by tiny margins in districts in swing states back in 2016. So, those razor thin margins are a key that seems there if you can grab it. I do think that is possible. So, what you are doing makes sense. An article David posted at the top of the page here discusses the smaller and smaller number of people whose votes are deciding elections because for the most part, in most states, you have a lot of people really dug in and the outcomes are a given.

I also think it is possible to get 8 Trump or Marge supporters to change their vote. Again, small numbers but in elections with small margins, it matters. Marge probably gets elected in her district by a landslide, so to eliminate someone like her, it would require more than changing the minds of a small number of her voters.

So, how do you syphon larger numbers of voters away from someone like Marge Greene? It seems obvious you can't do that with a Democrat because, to many of her voters, a Democrat is just never an option. So, I wonder if the solution in these deep red areas, if the way to go about taking down many of these people is running candidates as independents. I almost feel it is the label that bothers people.

In running for seats in Congress or for state offices, it would seem the way I would approach that is not to run as a Democrat nor Republican in red areas, but to run as an independent. That's not, or has not been, something that works in presidential elections but it would very much work in electing state representatives.

If the question is "What has Marge Greene done for her constituents in Georgia?" and the answer is "Nothing." but you can't vote for someone as a Democrat, can you vote for them as an Independent?

I think that many of these voters want to give the finger to both Democrats and Republicans so, in these elections for state seats, why not give them the third choice. I think that would screw with the margins in a large way.
