As far as I can figure, a different candidate would require
A: Biden wanting to let go, and saying that really freaking soon. I think some of the filing deadlines may have already passed.
B: His donors and staff being ok with that idea, and campaign finance laws allowing for a handover of funds like that. (any lawyers around?)
C: A high-profile enough candidate ready to step in, with a ready to go staff and funding.
So, Michelle Obama, Gavin Newsom, or... what, George Clooney? There is just so little time now.
