Icon Our binary choices...

There are other choices and we do have independent candidates the thing is, our system is basically set-up so it is, particularly in a presidential election, very slanted toward the two major parties. They pretty much have that locked up.

So, guys like Robert Kennedy Jr. or Cornel West have, I would say, zero shot at winning an election here. They will just syphon a percentage of votes away from the Democrat and Republican. It's generally a question of who they hurt the most to allow a victory for one of the two major parties.

Really our system is not so bad, as long as once elected the parties work together for the American people. The problem is, the Republicans have adopted a strategy of grinding all government to a halt and only looking to pass legislation that helps their donor class or excites the Christian base. So, it is essentially a two item plan, lower taxes for the wealthy, ban abortion and books they don't like, take rights from anybody that is not straight and essentially white. Beyond those things, Republicans do not want to do anything. Not all of them, but those are now the drivers of the party.

Again, I don't expect you to have to pay attention to what the loons over here are doing, but Republicans now back things like government shutdowns, blocking military promotions, firing the House Speaker to create chaos and freeze the government, gutting our school system, gutting the IRS (our tax system), getting rid of the FBI and CIA, and in general, electing criminals like Donald Trump that want to throw out our Constitution and allow us to shift to a fascist kleptocracy that plays footsy with Christian Nationalists.

Where it impacts the rest of the planet is a guy like Trump wants to team up with all the guys you have mentioned and so all we have is Biden to prevent that. He might not be perfect but he should not be thrown in with the wackos like Netanyahu. Not the same thing even though yes, the US does provide funding and weapons to Israel.

If we lose Joe, we are in a very precarious position...all of us...the entire world because the other half of our political universe right now is off the rails and acting like a cornered rabid dog. So, you don't have to like Joe but root for the old guy to stick around right now. He is the stability the world needs at the moment. Somehow, with all the work being done to undermine him, he is still getting the job done.
