...who that message is for and what exactly guys like Trump and DeSantis think of their voters?  When Ron says his voters will walk barefoot on broken glass to vote for him who is he speaking to?

Now, he was speaking to a Republican group when he said it and he is obviously saying he can get his voters to do whatever he tells them and they won't question him.

Same for Trump when he said of his voters that he could shoot someone in the face on 5th avenue and his voters would still vote for him.

In other words, both DeSantis and Trump are bragging about how "brainwashed" their voters are.  This is basically shitting on their voters because it says they have no mind of their own. People that talk like this, about their control of the society, are not good people and should not be in our politics. 

It is clear that Ron and Don don't think much of their voters nor of our system based on their own statements. Their idea of elections is about how brainwashed they have people. Not good.
