Suspect you may be correct.  Maybe that ends up not being such a bad thing.  There are ideas on the right, perhaps especially economic and moral, that ought to be politically represented.  As I know from my recent brain tumor surgery, sometimes out of a "tearing down" comes a kind of renewal or "different" that can even be something better.  Maybe that's what the Republican Party needs.  Trump can create a lot of havoc, but especially given his age, I don't think he can win this fight.  And if his actions ultimately means a DeSantis or similar has to triangulate and try to push the party somewhere else . . . and perhaps eventually does so successfully . . . then that's not a bad thing at all.
