Yes.  I met her several times and liked her.  Wasn't a close associate though, although we were both on an intramural sports organizing committee.  My favorite story about her, however, was not so much to do with her but rather with an admirer of her.  On the very first night, one guy across the hall was apparently smitten and the state he'd gotten himself into, he somehow decided to prove his love by carving the first three letters of her name into is arm with a knife.  To this day, I believe he has the "SAM" scar there.  Needless to say, the other 11 of us on that floor slept with one eye open the rest of that year.
