I'm happy to embrace cover versions. Over here, there is a trend for well-known artists to cover songs by another well-known artist/group in a compilation - Crowded House, Cold Chisel have both had these tribute albums done and the next one up is Hunters and Collectors - can't wait for that! Some of the artists performing their songs are amongst my favourites - Neil Finn (with Eddie Vedder), Paul Kelly, The Rubens, The Living End, Oh Mercy, Something for Kate, The Panics, Abbe May, British India and Birds of Tokyo. Have heard only one of these so far and it was vastly different to the original. Triple-J were inundated by diehard hunnas fans who felt it was almost a shooting offence. I quite liked it.

Funny that this thread should be called holy grails as 'Holy Grail' is perhaps Hunters and Collectors best known song and will be covered by The Rubens.

Went to a concert a couple of weeks ago by the students from WAAPA (Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts). One of their female students sang a version of Pink Floyd's 'Comfortably Numb' that had tears welling in my eyes and goosebumps - absolutely amazing. The guitarist would have given David Gilmour a run for his money too. I am in awe of talented people!
