I think that these first-hand accounts are really important for our understanding and a very important corrective to the faux-patriotism and misplaced hype of this and future 9/11 anniversaries. They bring the enormity of the event to life but do it on a human and very personal scale. One that perhaps we can absorb and use more productively than the reminiscence of the major news outlets.
