I'm not sure it is why we elect governments, Al. Liberal governments in WA have a long history of development and economic "benefit" outweighing conservation and environmental concerns. There is another proposal currently to build a coal mine 15 km from the tourist mecca of Margaret River. Aside from coal being a dirty method of power generation, it is so short-sighted when weighed up against the long-term tourist potential, particularly as the area is known for being clean and green.
