I continue to be intrigued by EEE's assessment that if the Republican Party regains control of the American Government, it will end in its demise.
I like to think that would be the case, and EEE may be right. I have one caveat. Their failure will more than likely give rise to a Tyranny of Corporations, multi-national corporations.
Then, Messy, your (our) worst fears will materialize like some genie out of a bottle determined to further widen the gap between his bosses and the hands-wiping-our-eyes-unable-to-believe-what-we're-seeing rest of us.
That vote last year, giving Corporations the right to spend their free speech with abandon in a political campaign, was a harbinger, a warning, a promise, almost, that slavery by any other name is upon us.
As I see it, we have one more chance to throw the attacking ladders back off this fortress of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and that's to keep (UGH!) the Dems in power. I've never seen a bigger hold-your-nose voting situation than the one we're faced with now.
But hold my nose I will and try to save this country's soul Jonathan Franzen, according to Frank Rich, so ably identifies as near paralyzed. If it's an accounting we need, it will not be done by those who violated it to begin with.
