The Windows backup in XP isn't all that good. They improved it greatly in Vista & 7. You can get open source backup software at Source Forge if it doesn't come with your XHD.
Sky Drive is an interesting option - you have to have a Windows Live account to get it & you can share the files with your live network. I've been considering throwing a remote backup up there myself, but I'm not sure it will accept those files. Some of the cloud services restrict file types.EDIT- Sky drive has a file only/no folders 4file/50MB per file limit. forget throwing a backup there.
