If a system is implemented that has a gaping loophole, it will fail in every state with a southern border. I'd like to see a public option succeed, so it's important that the Congress address verification. It's neither racist nor heartless to insist that a taxpayer benefit go to legal residents.

Yes, it's a small piece of a much larger whole, but as long as Democrats leave a loophole for Repulicans to exploit, I have to assume that they don't really want this to pass. Why else would they not take care of a simple legality?

I've yet to see a single coherent explanation for this idiocy. The Democrats should be trying to head off Republican opposition at every pass by making sure that issues so easy to demagoge simply don't exist.
