Echoes many of my thoughts, well at least parts of it.  Love the comment about layoffs in the trucking industry.  Didn't Elvis drive a truck?   Pssst...  Do you smell that?  It's our wallets, burning.

"An Obama Presidency"

The economic management plan of most administrations has relied upon innovation in the public sector, and has never grown due to government intervention, involvement or creativity. The mortgage debacle (a correction in all rights) coupled with energy speculators driving up the price of a readily available commodity (oil) and of course our continued war on terror (Iraq, Afghanistan & financial obligations in Asia, Europe, Africa & the Middle East) are all sucking funds from our 12 trillion dollar economy. Our tax burden today is 3.5 trillion USD, give or take several hundred million. The route we have taken by the current administration has not been popular, the President's popularity rating is pathetic, but is eclipsed only by today's congressmen and senators popularity that remained 10 points below Bush. I think we can all agree that the next sitting President will not be able to make sweeping changes with a limited budget.

OBAMA becomes President. Democrats become the majority n both houses. Republicans warn “Reform (change) is an expensive proposition.” President Obama will assess that the economy is worse than what he thought; the fault “the Republican party.” Obama with his fellow Democrats take drastic steps by creating yet another new stimulus package. Obama will pressure the Pentagon to get the troops home so the money spent on the war can help our domestic situation. Obama will then raise the corporate tax rates, as well as the taxes on the wealthy (any family making over $250K a year) as promised! That will not be nearly enough to fund his programs. So additional taxes will be raised in the energy sector (gasoline, natural gas, coal) he will offset that tax by providing incentive for alternative energy production and R&D for companies.

Another bailout plan (spreading the wealth) will be made for those people that did not qualify for a legitimate mortgage. And another bailout plan will be made for Detroit car makers, this decision is made because the car makers are being told that they have to develop smarter fuel efficient cars; this will cost billions so Detroit can stay competitive with the Japanese. The US Govt must act to save American made cars! A value added tax will implemented to punish those evil people that buy luxury goods, however we soon discover (much to our chagrin) that the VAT is added to all goods. So now we all have to pay, no matter ones tax bracket. Local Governments push for exemptions of the new VAT tax. Sin taxes for alcohol and tobacco will go up as they are the root of all evil.

Obama and his fellow Democrats despise the military and do not understand why we should have one; the money the pentagon spends is deemed as ridiculous and selfish and should be reduced if not eliminated. So the military will cut costs and personnel, VA programs will be capped and veterans groups will be convinced their Government abandoned them. Troops and bases will be withdrawn from several countries and domestic posts / bases will be left alone as individual state senators (democrats) see their existence a necessary evil.

The price of Obama’s healthcare plan will be seen as too expensive but a bill will pass anyway penalizing companies that do not provide healthcare benefits. Since healthcare benefits are no longer a choice; companies must provide them to their employees, this law impacts small businesses and a new record of bankrupt and closed private businesses soon follow. Funds will be taken away from research institutions so innovation and technology development will not provide tools to manage chronic disease.

The Obama education program is passed, too expensive but it passes anyway. Many private colleges opt out as they will elect not accept students from this program. Deans explain that lowering admissions and changing curriculums are not a good idea. The Obama plan requires fair modified curriculums to become more uniformed and lower the competitive nature of public colleges. Public colleges will also be mandated to discount the cost of tuition for this program. Students enrolled in this new program will have financial issues with the cost of books, and housing, so they will seek part time employment. Part time jobs will be required to offer full benefit packages under the new Democrat led employment act of 2009, so another phenomenon occurs when part time positions erode and die. The good news is that the number of college students enrolling will go up significantly due to Obama’s college program, but amazingly enough the graduation rate will not go up as many cannot pass their new standardized courses. This phenomenon will be attributed to lowering the admission policies and will cause private Colleges to lift their tuitions up, state and public colleges will dumb down their curriculum so more people graduate with academically attenuated degrees.

The prices of goods and services will go up due to the tax increases upon the suppliers, developers, and distributors. Interstate and intrastate commerce will encounter new toll and taxation costs for using outdated diesel trucks. Trucking is deemed as a major anthropological catalyst for global warming so due to layoffs in the trucking industry, country music will gain a new wave of music stars. Commerce will slow as companies tighten their belts. This fiscal conservative movement within companies medium and large (small business will become extinct) will require dropping the burden rates and unemployment will go up initially and then will slide in to 10% - 15% unemployment.

The layoffs that continue from the heavily taxed private sector will pressure the Democrats to create more Govt jobs. The word sacrifice will become meaningless in the Obama administration as it is used on a daily basis. This will happen during Obama’s 1st and only term as President.
