The term yellow journalism was coined in the late 1800s, early 1900s, irresponsible, sensationalistic reporting has been around as long as reporting. Like many other scandals, the advent of the information age has made this info immediately available and easily disseminated. Basically, I'm saying I don't think there is more idiocy in journalism, we're just hearing about it more. That is why I don't assume what I read or hear is true unless it's sourced, proofed, etc., whether it is an opinion I share or oppose . . .
