Herring,

Yup, Vista can be a little tricky. Three months ago, I bought an brand new HP laptop with pre-installed Vista Home Premium. Guess what, during the initial Vista installation and registration process, I received the famous Windows Blue Screen of Death‼! Something which supposedly was never to happen in Vista! I had to reinstall Vista three times from the HP backup partition before it was stable enough to run without problems. Now it runs fine. Until, that is, I installed Microsoft Office 2003‼! Then all hell broke loose among my icons‼! Took me three weeks to get those fixed… sheesh…

Nevertheless, if Vista is still giving you a hassle, I suggest that you back up all your critical docs and simply reinstall Vista from the Dell partition.

PS! You mention that you bought a Dell laptop with Vista. Are you aware that although Dell started selling their machines with Vista that due to customer complaints, they went back to once again offer Windows XP as an option? ;-)
