In addition to MJG's astute comments above, I will add that it is possible to run programs that are not exactly Vista-ready--if you can get them to install, that is.

Once installed, you can right-click, go to "properties," and tell the system to run that program in "XP compatible mode" or whatever other mode one needs.

In Office 2007, I have next to zilch when it comes to actual experience, but I'm told that you can use "Save as" to save your documents as though you were running an earlier version, which should help with some document compatibility issues.

I don't know anything about the program you mention Andrea (and darned little about how any of this stuff works, really). Basically I just rely on the internet to find out the little bits of computer tech I need to know.

Happy news for me: Got an email just today from Tascam, saying that the Vista-compatible version of the driver for my US-144 is now available for download at their site. :)

Also, the fish continue biting.
