Yeah, Beach Boys had some very great music, no doubt. I have
some vinyls that are in great shape, like All Summer Long, and then
I broke down and got a CD comp of their Greatest Hits. Their vocal
harmonies always slayed me, and it reminds me of certain times in
my childhood in the early 60's. I remember one instance, in which
I had flunked a course at school (a great rarity for a nerd like me,
but yep it happened), and I was all depressed. It was a sunny day
in June (another rarity in Montreal) at the end of the school term,
and some girl in my class invited me over to her place, because her
big sister had a real, authentic, honest to God BEACH BOY's LP !
She put on Surfing USA....and all the pain went away. That's my
story, and I'm stickin' to it.
